I really like this app! As a hearing impaired person, it lets me use an old iPhone 3GS (that would otherwise be fairly useless) monitor what is going on at the other end of my house, like the laundry, etc.

why cant i view my mac on my iPod?
In conjunction with the mobile apps, I can easily set up my ipad in one room and my iphone in another room and watch my twins sleep while I work at the iMac on two small windows. When one starts to wake up, I hear a nice little beep as the motion sensor feature kicks in and I can see immediately if they need something. Love the updates, too. Much more reliable lately.
When I run Airbeam 1.4 on my phone, which is the latest version. This Mac App says that it cannot view the phones video because the Airbeam software is a different version, and it tells me to upgrade the airbeam software. I can view the video through a browser, but not through this app. So this app is pretty much useless until they fix the bug. The iPhone software seems to be functioning correctly, but this Mac client is not. It is frustrating though, because you can SEE the camera, and the motion detection works… you just cannot click to view the camera in normal full sized video display. So just use your browser to view your airbeam cameras. Anyway, what would REALLY be usefull is to be able to view the Macs camera on a mobile device. And to be able to do so, even when you dont happen to be on the same network. Right now this does not seem to be very useful unless you are just setting up a baby monitor.
We recently upgraded an i-phone 3GS to the new 4S model. We mounted the old i-phone with a gorilla pod on our sturdi shelter as a sort of baby cam for our litter of new kittens. We can monitor the mom and kittens from anywhere in the house on our wireless network. The portion of the App for the monitoring devices was free and we have downloaded several of them. The app for the recording device was only $3.99. Even cooler is the fact that friends outside of our network can see "Kitten-Cam" from the web by typing in the IP addresse we provide them with. We were able to check in on the fur kids while out to brunch when they were only two days old by accesing our home IP addresse from our other I-phones. Very cool!
Wow even tho this is a little bit creepy, but i like it, you can record whatever thing with your iphone and ppl stay at their computer can be watching live. Or u can place your iPhone somewhere to be like a surveillance camera LOL
I have had this since the day it came out and Ive liked it since then. Now it has some nice improvements, and I highly recommend it. I have a mac, an iPhone and an iPad and everythings was recognized automatically. For those who want to use the Macs iSight camera, youll have to pay $4 for the pro version. I havent tested the option to connect the devices on different networks (i.e. over the internet). Not sure, if my router supports that anyway. But I really just use it at home anyway. I wouldnt replace my baby-phone with this app (just to be on the safe side), but using this app as a baby monitor is definitely more fun and nicer than the baby-phone.
It doesnt see my iSight camera and the help files are empty.
Theres no setup other than installing the app on iOS devices and buying the OS X version (if you want to use it with your Mac). Top notch.
Crashes when it connects to my iphone/ipad. Im running OSX Mountain Lion. Dont know if the problem is confined to the new OS release.
…the only thing keeping me from giving it 5 stars is the lack of a solution (as of 9 Aug 12) that fixes a bug causing the app to crash for Mountain Lion users. A speedy update and perhaps some forethought to mitigate this quirk is in order. If youre considering Airbeam, dont let this hiccup keep you from downloading but rather just wait for a solution. I know Im anxiously awaiting it myself.
We use this as our baby monitor and have been very happy:)
hooked itouch to rc car and get to see where the rc goes.
I must be missing something obvious, I installed the app on my MacBook Air and iPad ($3.99) followed the instructions, and NADA. I must be missing something obvious to everyone else bragging about their babies and stuff. Hurmph!
Super impressed so far. Set up a remote feed using home network and can spy on our puppy all day. Wish there was a way to save or bookmark my remote url so that I dont have to open it every time I open the app. Well worth the price!!
This app is easy to configure and use, but: 1. Passwords are automatically saved for each camera, with no way to remove them. 2. Internet-based cameras are not able to be saved and must be manually entered every time that you connect. 3. Very limited feature-set. It would be really nice to have more options for configuration in terms of motion detection, etc. 4. Brightness on iOS devices is automatically set to a very low level if the app is left running in the background. 5. No option to display list of cameras, only large, clunky icons that require scrolling if the app isnt running maximized. With those complaints out of the way, its a good app that is easy to set up and use, including configuration for viewing from the Internet (provided that you know what you are doing with port-forwarding and dynamic DNS. I hope to see future versions that improve the functionality and usability of this cool app!
Connects. Crashes. Connects. Crashes. No video. More like a snapshot of the room and then crashes.
I got the new gen 5 i pod and i now leave my old one connected all the time to air beame. I can go to my iPad, hit air beam app, and can easily and quickly see who is in our drive way. a very cool app.
can i get some help how to get it to work??? i purcharged tihis app for my Mac Book Pro and also for ma Iphoe and it didnt Work! i want my money Back!!
useless … doesn’t find cameras automatically, and help doesn’t tell you how to manually configure camera via IP address (doesn’t tell you how to find those IP addresses). If you are a IT pro or Mac expert, you can probably figure out how to get this freebie up and running .. but I have wasted an hour so far and consider myself pretty good at figuring out such things. Its probably easier to use another APP that actually works from the get go.
